How do I register for the real Certification Examinations for Oklahoma Educators?

For up-to-date information about registration for the Certification Examinations for Oklahoma Educators, refer to the Certification Examinations for Oklahoma Educators website.

What are the CEOE exams?

What are the Certification Exams for Oklahoma Educators?

Are you an educator seeking certification in Oklahoma? Certification Exams for Oklahoma Educators (CEOE) are competency-based assessments that help ensure all prospective education professionals pursuing certification in Oklahoma have the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the job of an entry-level educator in Oklahoma's public schools. Exactly what can you expect with the CEOE?

The CEOE include three assessments. The Oklahoma General Education Test (OGET) measures critical thinking and general education knowledge. The OGET is a 4-hour computer-based exam comprised of 100 selected-response questions and 1 writing assignment.

The Oklahoma Professional teaching Exam (OPTE) assesses a candidate's professional knowledge and skills. This exam has two levels: PK – 8 and 6 – 12. Each level is a 4-hour exam containing 75 selected-response questions and 3 written performance assignments.

The Oklahoma Subject Area Tests (OSAT) measure knowledge of the subject area in which a candidate wishes to teach. Most OSAT allow 4-hours for 80 selected-response questions with 1 constructed-response assignment. The Elementary Education OSAT has two separate subtests. The Reading/Language Arts subtest has 55 selected-response items with 1 constructed-response question, and the Social Studies/Mathematics/Science/Health/Fitness/Arts subtest includes 70 selected-response items. A candidate must pass both subtests in order to be certified in Elementary Education. Foreign Language OSAT include an oral component.

CEOE frameworks are available on the website www.ceoe.nesinc.com. These frameworks outline the content areas that the tests cover. Reviewing the objectives in the framework will give you an overview of the material you will need to study to prepare for the test.

CEOE scores are scaled (100 – 300) with 240 set as the minimum passing score. This minimum passing score reflects the level of knowledge and skills required for effective performance in Oklahoma schools. Scores will be emailed if this option is requested when registering for the exams. Otherwise scores will be available in your account on the report date determined by the date on which you took your exam.

CEOE Psychometrist - FAQ Sample Questions

If a teacher requires a student to recite a grouping of nouns learned in the class out loud, and the student does so successfully, the student is exhibiting which of the levels of Bloom’s Taxonomy?

Correct Answer:
knowledge.

the correct answer to this question is "knowledge." according to bloom’s taxonomy, a framework developed by benjamin bloom and his collaborators in the 1950s to categorize educational goals, "knowledge" represents the lowest level of learning outcomes in the cognitive domain. this level is characterized by the recall of factual material and the reproduction of learned information. when a student is asked to recite a grouping of nouns learned in class, they are demonstrating their ability to remember and retrieve previously learned material without necessarily understanding or being able to apply the knowledge further.

in contrast, other levels of bloom's taxonomy – such as "comprehension," "application," "analysis," "synthesis," and "evaluation" – involve higher cognitive skills that build on the foundational level of knowledge. "comprehension," for example, requires students to demonstrate understanding of facts and ideas by organizing, comparing, translating, interpreting, giving descriptions, and stating the main ideas. "synthesis," mentioned in the question options, involves creating something new by integrating different ideas or combining elements in novel ways. this level would be demonstrated if the student were asked to use the nouns in constructing new sentences or stories, showcasing an ability to extend and reorganize the learned material creatively.

thus, when a student merely recites nouns as learned in class, they are operating at the "knowledge" level. they are not synthesizing new content from known elements, nor are they analyzing or applying the information to different contexts, which would require higher levels of cognitive processing according to bloom’s taxonomy. the task of recitation focuses solely on the recall of specific terms, a direct reflection of the "knowledge" level of learning.

All of the following are types of neural tube defects EXCEPT

Correct Answer:
cerebral palsy

the question presented asks to identify which of the given options is not a type of neural tube defect. the options provided are spina bifida, cerebral palsy, encephalocele, and anencephaly. rebral palsy.

neural tube defects are severe conditions that occur during the development of the fetus, specifically affecting the brain, spine, or spinal cord. these defects arise from the failure of the neural tube to close completely during embryonic development. the neural tube is the precursor to the central nervous system, comprising the brain and spinal cord.

spina bifida is one of the most common forms of neural tube defects. in this condition, there is an incomplete closing of the backbone and membranes around the spinal cord. depending on the severity, it can lead to physical and intellectual disabilities.

encephalocele is another neural tube defect characterized by the herniation of brain tissue through an opening in the skull. this rare condition can result in a variety of outcomes, depending on the amount of brain tissue involved and the location of the hernia.

anencephaly is a more severe neural tube defect where a major portion of the brain, skull, and scalp fails to develop. infants born with this condition are usually missing significant parts of the brain and skull, and survival beyond birth is rare.

on the other hand, cerebral palsy, which is the correct answer to the question, is not a neural tube defect. it is a group of disorders affecting a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture. cerebral palsy is caused by abnormal brain development or damage to the developing brain that affects a person's ability to control their muscles. this condition can occur before, during, or shortly after birth; however, it is not related to the problems with the closure of the neural tube.

therefore, while spina bifida, encephalocele, and anencephaly are all neural tube defects resulting from issues during fetal development involving the neural tube, cerebral palsy is distinctively a neuromuscular disorder linked to brain development and function, not the spinal cord's structural integrity. hence, cerebral palsy is the correct answer as it is not a neural tube defect.
