What is the MOGEA?

The MOGEA, or Missouri General Education Assessment, is a certification examination for prospective educators in the state of Missouri. It is designed to assess the general education knowledge and skills necessary to be an effective educator. The MOGEA is required for entry into educator preparation programs in Missouri.

Step 1: Eligibility and Application

To be eligible for the MOGEA, you must be seeking admission into an educator preparation program in Missouri. You can apply for the MOGEA through the Missouri Educator Gateway Assessments website. After creating an account, you can register for the test, pay the necessary fees, and agree to all testing policies.

Step 2: Scheduling the Exam

Once you've completed your application, you can schedule your exam. The MOGEA is available by appointment, year-round, Monday through Saturday (excluding some holidays). Test appointments are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can check the available dates and times on the Missouri Educator Gateway Assessments website and select the one that best fits your schedule.

Step 3: Taking the Exam

The MOGEA is a computer-based test that is administered at Pearson VUE test centers located throughout Missouri and nationwide. You should arrive at the test center at least 30 minutes before your scheduled test time. You will need to bring valid and acceptable identification with you. The test consists of four subtests: Reading Comprehension and Interpretation, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies, and Writing. You will have 75 minutes to complete each subtest.
