You’ve decided that education is for you. Congratulations! The next step is the GACE. Exactly what is the GACE all about?

What is the GACE Series of Tests?

The Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) is the state-approved education certification assessment program. These computer-based tests are developed by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) and are administered at an Educational Testing Service (ETS) center. This battery of tests helps ensure that prospective candidates possess the knowledge and skills required to perform the responsibilities of an educator in Georgia’s public school system. Candidates take the GACE for admission to teacher preparation programs, to receive certification, or to become highly qualified in a core academic subject area.

GACE Program Admission exam

The GACE Program Admission exam, formerly the GACE Basic Skills test, is taken by the end of a candidate’s freshman year. It, or an exemption, is required prior to being admitted to a teacher education program. It consists of 3 tests: reading, mathematics, and writing. These tests can be taken individually or all at once. The Reading test, an 85-minute test consisting of self-selected response items, evaluates comprehension at a college level. The Mathematics portion is an 85-minute test consisting of self-selected response items measuring problem solving and computational ability in the domains of number and quantity, algebra and functions, geometry, and statistics and probability. A calculator is provided. The Program Admission writing exam includes multiple choice items dealing with grammar, revision, mechanics, word choice, and research. This 100-minute test also includes 2 constructed-response assignments. Four hours and 30 minutes are allotted when taking all three at the same time.

GACE Content Tests

The GACE Content Tests quantify knowledge and skills in specific certification areas. These content exams can be taken at an induction level (for initial certification) or at the professional level (for becoming highly qualified). The content tests can be one or two tests made up of selected-response questions with some containing one or more constructed response items. More specific information is available on the GACE website at Gace Exams.

Scores will be available at the conclusion of your exam if the test was only self-selected response items. Constructed-response items are scored immediately after the test window closes and will become available online at your ETS GACE testing account. The final score report will include a pass/not pass determination along with an analysis of your performance across objectives. All scores are scaled with the passing standard for the Program Admission test being 250. For the content area tests, 220 is the minimum passing score at the induction level, and 250 is the minimum passing score at the professional level.

Hi Exam Edge! I just wanted to say thank you for this site! I feel like it really prepared me for my GACE Early Childhood Special Education General Curriculum certification exam. The practice tests are formatted very similar to the actual test. I passed the first time with confidence! Yay!

Jennifer K.,

Im glad I found your website. Your practice tests helped immensely! The ability to review answers while taking the test was a great beginning feature. I also liked having the option to take it like a "real" test - being timed and given the results only at the end. The timed component and the layout of the test/navigation buttons made the actual test day so much easier! I passed both the GACE Early Childhood Special Education General Curriculum on my first try!

HR,

I would like to take this opportunity to say that I was very happy with the materials I ordered from Exam Edge in order to prepare for the GACE Early Childhood Special Education General Curriculum exam. I first of all strongly suggest that one order the maximum number of practice tests, 20 in this case. Take each one the maximum number of times you can (3) and honestly refiew what you missed outright or the items where you merely guessed. It is also helpful to review related text material. A freshman level university textbook covering each subject in which you will be tested is most advisable. I can only say that, having been out of college for 25 years, I scored a 197/200 on my FIRST ATTEMPT. While you will NOT find the practice exams to be verbatim whats found on the actual GACE Early Childhood Special Education General Curriculum test, you will find that they will help "cut to the chase" and help you to identify your strengths and weaknesses. Of all the GACE Early Childhood Special Education General Curriculum test prep programs out there, this is the most helpful and most economical package you can buy.

Brandt B.,

I was very apprehensive about taking my exam since I am squeamish when I take any exam. After using your practice tests, I went into the GACE Early Childhood Special Education General Curriculum exam with a lot of confidence feeling at ease. I would not have been ready for the kind of questions that were on the exam if I hadn’t used your practice tests. I just wish I knew about this program years ago when I took my other exams and was not as prepared as I would have been if I used your product. Thank you so much!

karen,

Exam Edge was a great resource for my preparation in taking the GACE Early Childhood Special Education General Curriculum . The tests have opportunities to review all the possible answers any why one is the correct answer. So helpful!

Elizabeth E.,

thank you guys so much. The structure of the programme was just like the actual exam. I love that you can learn from what you got wrong and what you got right and theres multiple tests to take.

Dave J.,

I am writing this to inform you and anyone else who is thinking of purchasing these practice questions that they were the best investment I made as far as time and money. I had failed my GACE Early Childhood Special Education General Curriculum exam twice, and after practicing these test, about 20 of them, I was more than prepared to pass the test. These test prepared so well, I commented to a friend of mine that the practice test was like studying at Harvard and the real test seem like high school. I will continue to study the test for future reference because they have a wealth of information for any first year teacher. Thank you,

Carlos,
