Looking to become certified as a teacher in Pennsylvania? The PECT (Pennsylvania Educator Certification Tests) were designed to identify candidates who have the level of required knowledge and expertise to teach in the grades for which they are seeking PA Educator Certification.
The Pennsylvania Educator Certification Tests were developed in alignment with Pennsylvania regulations and standards, including the Pennsylvania Program Framework Guidelines and the relevant Pennsylvania Academic Standards. The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has contracted with the Evaluation Systems group of Pearson to assist in the development and administration of these computer-based, criterion-referenced tests. Pennsylvania Educator Certification Tests include the Pre-service Academic Performance Assessment (PAPA), PreK – 4 test, Special Education PreK – 8 test, and Special Education 7 – 12 test.
For examinees taking all modules during a single testing session, a 15-minute break is given between modules.
Preliminary results are provided at the test center at the conclusion of the testing session. Reports are available within 10 business days after testing. Writing score reports are available within 20 business days after testing. The minimum passing scaled scores for each PECT are:
