Mr. Rose tells his class that they are going to use a compass to locate treasures that he has buried in the playground. They are to follow the directions he has provided on the "Treasure Map" to find the treasure. They will use rulers and yard sticks to pace out the directions in feet or yards. Each group will start from a given location and be given a different map so that no two will find the same treasure. The time for finding the treasure is 10 minutes. An example of the directions is: Four yards to the north, five feet to the west, six feet to the south.
