What is the AANP?

Who is the AANP?
The AANP, or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, is a national organization for nurse practitioners of all specialties. It provides nurses with resources, advocacy, and educational opportunities to enhance their practice. AANP also provides certification for nurse practitioners in Family (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Primary Care (A-GNP), and Emergency Nurse Practitioner (ENP).
Where do you take their certification exams?
The AANP Certification Board (AANPCB) exams are computer-based and are offered at PSI Testing Centers throughout the United States. After your application for the certification exam has been approved, you will receive an email from AANPCB with instructions to schedule your exam at a PSI Testing Center.
Step 1: Eligibility and Application
To apply for AANP certification, you must meet their eligibility requirements which generally include having a current RN license, a master's, postgraduate, or doctoral degree from a nurse practitioner program, and specific coursework. Once you've determined your eligibility, you can apply online through the AANPCB website. The application process includes submitting your academic transcripts and paying the application fee.
Step 2: Scheduling the Exam
After your application has been reviewed and approved, you will receive an email from AANPCB with instructions on how to schedule your exam. You can choose the date, time, and location that works best for you at one of the PSI Testing Centers.
Step 3: Taking the Exam
On the day of the exam, ensure you arrive at the PSI Testing Center early with a valid government-issued ID. The exam will be computer-based and the time allowed for the test will depend on the specific certification.

AANP certification exam scoring works on a scale of 200 to 800 points. A minimum passing score of 500 is required of examinees. Your score is ultimately neither a number or percent correct score.
