CORE Exam & CORE Certification Info

The CORE Exams

The CORE (Council on Rehabilitation Education) is a body that establishes and enforces high educational standards for Rehabilitation Counseling programs. Their certification is the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) certification. This certification allows professionals to demonstrate their specialized knowledge, skills, and expertise in the rehabilitation counseling profession.

Step 1: Eligibility and Application

Eligibility for the CRC Certification requires a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or a closely related field. After determining eligibility, candidates must submit an application for the certification. This can be done through the CORE's online portal, which is accessible on their website: https://www.crccertification.com/

Step 2: Scheduling the Exam

Once the application is approved, candidates will receive an Authorization to Test (ATT) email. This email allows candidates to schedule their exam. The scheduling is done through Pearson VUE, a third-party testing service. Candidates can schedule their exam at any of the Pearson VUE’s testing centers across the United States and Canada, or take it online.

Step 3: Taking the Exam

The CRC exam is a multiple-choice test consisting of 175 questions. Candidates have 3.5 hours to complete the exam. The exam must be taken at the scheduled time and location, whether it's at a Pearson VUE testing center or online. After the exam, candidates will receive their score report immediately.
