Seeking certification in educational leadership in Florida? The FELE (Florida Educational Leadership Examination) assesses prospective school administrators’ achievement of benchmarks established by the Florida Stage Board of Education. Exactly what can you expect with the FELE?
The FELE was created to ensure that educational leaders demonstrate mastery of skill sets and knowledge bases needed in effective schools. The FELE is a computer-based test consisting of three subtests. Subtest 1 addresses Leadership for Student Learning. Two hours are allotted for approximately 70 multiple-choice questions that deal with Student Learning Results, Student Learning as a Priority, Instructional Plan Implementation, and the Learning Environment. Subtest 2 addresses Organizational Development. Two hours are allotted for approximately 70 multiple-choice questions that deal with Faculty Development, Leadership Development, and Professional and Ethical Behavior. Subtest 3 addresses Systems Leadership topics including Decision Making, School Management, and Communication. This subtest consists of a multiple-choice section with approximately 55 questions and a written performance assessment (WPA). The WPA is designed to determine proficiency in written communication and data analysis. The total time for both sections is 2 1/2 hours. Content resources including competencies, skills, and test blueprints are available at the FELE website at www.fl.nesinc.com.
All FELE exams are administered at Pearson Professional Centers by appointment, Monday through Saturday. Registration for the FELE is online at the FELE website mentioned above. You may register to take any combination of subtests in one test session; however you must register for the full subtest (both sections) if taking subtest 3 for the first time. After a first attempt, you may register to take a single section of Subtest 3 or any combination of subtests in one test session. You are required to pass all 3 subtests, including both sections of subtest 3, in order to pass the FELE.
A minimum score of 200 is necessary to pass both Subtest 1 and Subtest 2. For Subtest 3, a minimum score of 200 is necessary to pass the multiple-choice section, and a minimum score of 7 out of 12 points is needed to pass the written performance assessment section. Unofficial pass/non-pass for multiple-choice subtests are available immediately at the conclusion of the exam. Official scores are reported within 4 to 6 weeks of testing.
Just wanted to say thank you for such an accurate and comprehensive FELE prep program. The practice tests were almost identical to the new exam and I just got my scores tonight and passed on the first attempt.
