What is GACE?
The Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators are a series of tests designed to evaluate the skills of aspiring teachers in Georgia. Also known as GACE, these exams help ensure that only the most qualified professionals can teach in the classroom. Virtually all Georgia educators working in public schools are required to take a GACE exam or two.
Which GACE Should I Take?
There are GACE exams for virtually every content area imaginable. The GACE Educational Leadership™ assessment, for instance, was developed to measure the pedagogical talents and leadership skills of aspiring school principals. Most teachers, however, will want to take GACE exams in their preferred subject area. For instance, if you’re hoping to teach Biology, you’ll need to take and pass the GACE Biology® test to earn your teaching license. Allow your professional goals to guide your decision over which GACE exam to take.
How to register for the GACE
You can register for GACE exams on the official GACE website. Simply create an ETS GACE account, login, and select the exam date of your preference. Once registered, you can begin your GACE exam prep in earnest. GACE exam costs range between $30 and $165.

GACE exams are generally scored on a pass/fail basis. That said, you’ll typically receive a numerical score on your test. Each GACE test features different standards for passing. For instance, the GACE Educational Leadership™ test requires a score of 250 points or more to pass, while passing scores for content assessments range from 220-249 for the induction level. Make sure to look up the required score for your specific GACE exam before you begin your studies.
What is GACE Educational Leadership Assessment?
The GACE Educational Leadership™ Assessment test was created to assess the leadership skills and pedagogical knowledge of educational leaders in the state of Georgia. It features 100 multiple choice and short answer questions for examinees to answer over the course of three and a half hours. This GACE exam definitely shouldn’t be underestimated – passing it can mean big things for your career, so you’ll want to earn a passing score on your first attempt.
