The New York State Teacher Certification Examinations were developed to measure the teaching skills of new educators before they enter the workforce. Content Speciality Tests, or CSTs, challenge examinees on their knowledge of the subject matter they hope to one day teach. Which CST Test Should I Take?

Your career goals should guide your decision to sign up for a CST exam. For instance, if you're hoping to teach high school chemistry, you'll likely need to take and pass the NYSTCE CST Chemistry (007) exam before you begin your job hunt. There are CST exams for virtually every subject and grade level, so be sure to consult with your academic advisor before deciding which path to pursue. How Does NYSTCE Scoring Work?

Scores for CST exams generally run between 400 and 600 points, with a required minimum score of 520 points or more. Multiple-choice performance and any required constructed response answers are calculated to form the final score total. NYSTCE BEA Spanish (024)

Examinees of the NYSTCE BEA Spanish (024) exam will face 70 selected-response questions, one written expression assignment and two oral expression assignments over the course of four hours.
